Invitation
Sir Samuel W. Baker Exhibition 2006 will be declared open by His Excellency Dominick Chilcott Esqr, The British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka on Friday, the 10th November 2006 at 10.00 am. Your presence at the opening ceremony will be much appreciated. This exhibition which will be of interest to students, teachers and general public, will highlight the life and achievements of Sir Samuel W. Baker (1821-1893), the distinguished 19th century English explorer, geographer, author and entrepreneur (who founded the first agricultural settlement in Nuwara Eliya) and some interesting historical, geographical, environmental and agricultural aspects of Nuwara Eliya. John Knox International School 177, Udupussellawa Road, Nuwara Eliya (052-5673960) -------------------------- Cool, isn't it? The British High Commissioner himself will open this exhibition and, because of our origin, they also invited the Dutch ambassador (not sure whether he is coming). Especially in a society as in Sri Lanka having such 'high placed' people come to your school is important. We are still curious what the exhibition will look like ;-) But for sure it will be ready November 10 at 10.00 am! |
